Palak Paratha recipe | The super healthy bread for you

Palak Paratha Recipe is a health food aficionados dream come true. This vitamin and iron rich flat dough bread is sure to elevate your and your families nutrition quotient to the next level. This flat bread is just what both the doctor and the chef ordered. Its quick and easy to make. Its really tasty and a complete nutrition capsule.

I remember having this a child. I have also made a lot of these for my children. No better way to get your kids to eat spinach and love it too ! The green color adds to the fascination for the kids. It’s all about positioning the dish in their minds 😉

Tips

It may not be very economic to make small quantities of blanched and pureed palak. I usually made a decent quantity and save in the refrigerator, You can see here how to blanch spinach leaves. See this recipe –> PALAK PANEER RECIPE

Palak Paratha Recipe

It may not be very economic to make small quantities of blanched and pureed Palak. I usually made a decent quantity and save in the refrigerator, You can see how to blanch spinach in the TIPs section.

Ingredients
  • 3 tbsp Palak/ Spinach Blanched and pureed
  • 1/4 tsp ajwain / carom seeds
  • 1 green chilli finely chopped
  • Salt to taste
  • Red Chilli Powder to taste
  • 2 Cups Atta/ Wheat flour
Directions
  • Step 1 In a flat bowl take the wheat flour and Add 2 tbsp of Blanched palak/spinach puree, Add the other ingredients and now add 1/2 cup water and knead the dough. Use the water carefully, you don’t want the dough too soft or too hard. Set Aside.
  • Step 2 Heat a flat pan on high flame. When its hot reduce the flame to low.
  • Step 3 Make a small round ball of the dough/atta. Flatten it on a pan.(Video below the recipe section)
  • Step 4 Apply ghee/oil on the flat dough and Fold it as shown below in pics and flatten it again as shown in the video above.
  • Step 5 Put the flat dough on the hot pan.
  • Step 6 Flip it after 60 secs.
  • Step 7 Apply Ghee/Oil on top with a brush/spoon. Repeat for the other side as well.
  • Step 8 Roast both sides on the pan till its nicely done with brown spots.
  • Step 9 Repeat the process for the rest of the dough and mixture.
  • Step 10 It’s best when served directly hot of the pan with a slice of butter on top, accompanied by curd , Curry, Subji, Indian pickles or dip of your choice.

In a flat bowl take the wheat flour and Add 2 tbsp of Blanched palak/spinach puree, Add the other ingredients and now add 1/2 cup water and knead the dough. Use the water carefully, you don’t want the dough too soft or too hard. Set Aside.

Heat a flat pan on high flame. When its hot reduce the flame to low.

Make a small round ball of the dough/atta. Flatten it into a 6-7 inch circle.(Video below)

Apply ghee/oil on the flat dough and Fold it as shown below in pics and flatten it again as shown in the video above.

Put the flat dough on the hot pan.

Flip it after 60 secs.

Apply Ghee/Oil on top with a brush/spoon. Repeat for the other side as well. If done properly it should start swelling.

Roast both sides on the pan till its nicely done with brown spots. Repeat the process for the rest of the dough and mixture.

It’s best when served directly hot of the pan with a slice of butter on top, accompanied by curd , Curry, Subji, Indian pickles or dip of your choice.
